Getting Started
Welcome to your new Jakob cable railing project. This guide will walk you through the complete installation process of your premium stainless steel cable railing system. Our marine-grade components are designed for straightforward installation while providing decades of performance.

What You'll Need
- Standard tools: Drill, 7/16" and 5/16" drill bits, wrenches, level
- The included professional cable cutter
- Measuring tape
- Safety equipment (gloves)
Planning Your Installation
Take time to plan before drilling. Each Jakob kit includes 12 pre-assembled cables designed to be installed with approximately 3" spacing between cables for code compliance. Remember that proper post construction is critical – posts must be securely anchored to support the tension of the cables.
Expert Tips
- Drill all holes before running any cables
- Install all cables before final tensioning
- Tension cables in sequence (middle cables first, then work outward)
- Allow 24-48 hours for initial stretching before final tensioning
